Harihar
Born in Indiana, and raised in the 70's by a hippie Mom who loved Yoga, I was given some good foundation in using and caring for my body. I forgot much of this until I got old in 2010. It was about 2014, when I found myself very out of shape and uncomfortable. I weighed about 240 pounds (vs. 170) and was extremely bound up and inflexible. My level of physical pain was awful. I had to start listening to my body!
My healing journey really kicked off with Tai Chi at Mesa CC. I still practice it and Qi gong personally. What it did for me was to marry breath and movement. I learned to move gracefully and slowly, all the while breathing deeply. I even remember using it to relieve myself of test anxiety. This wasn't enough though, I was still gaining weight and moving less.
Then, in 2015 I met my mentor of many years, and learned all sorts of yoga asana. Years later, he came to an impasse with the studio and went off grid for a while. I tried to find someone similar, to no avail. I found myself practicing in my room, and realized that I needed to learn to take this to people who hurt like I used to. I did a 200hr YTT at SWIHA in 2018, and followed it with 300hr at Urban Yoga. I taught yoga very regularly until about 2021. I still teach sporadically, although I'm more likely to be offering a sound bath. I have an amazing love for my handpan!
As an elective in the YTT, I trained in Thai Massage, to better understand how the body moves. As I offered Yoga, I would also offered private lessons with Thai. Often, I wished I knew more. The dream came through with massage school. I started in Feb 2023 and graduated about a year and a half later. I really love the Myotherapy aspect of massage. It closely correlates with yoga, Thai massage, and even more conventional massage.
I worked in emergency medicine as a young man, which gave me some background. I have been a lifelong student of movement of the human body. I would love the opportunity to work with you on developing more ease of movement and general comfort in the days following our session.

Where does Harihar come from?... I was given this name to identify with during a ceremony.
Harihar is a Hindu persona, born from a conflict between Shiva and Vishnu. It's said that Vishnu threw this party, it was invite only. Shiva didn't make the list and decided to just sneak in. Vishnu caught him, and they wrestled madly. There was a giant explosion! In the aftermath, a whole new version of the two gods was all that remained. This is the fable of the birth of Harihar.
The personalized massage transformed my body and spirit, truly a holistic experience.
